3DS online game store FINALLY launches in May, brings 3D freebies to get you hooked like a desperate retro crack-head

The game? Excitebike. Which might not sound too awesome, but it will be, trust me. And it could be the start of one of the best things on the 3DS.

Imagine the above, but with sharp, higher-res 8-bit graphics and all the layers moving on different 3D planes. That's what you're getting in Excitebike on the 3DS, and you're getting it for free. And because Nintendo loves throwing free stuff out to show off the potential of its new tech, I can only imagine that this is a taster of its plans to come in regards to the much-vaunted retro releases on the 3DS store.

I've long said that the parallax layered scrollingof 2D 8 and 16-bit games is a brilliantly exciting fit for the 3DS, so lets have a raft of 3DSNES remakes, shall we? Let's have the bewildering blizzard of Donkey Kong Country's Ice Age Valley. Let's get 3D Mode 7 rolling and have F-Zero and Super Mario Kart. Screw it, let's get Shadow of the Beast on there too. It was crap, but the parallax layers were INSANE.

What old 8 and 16-bit games do you want 3Ded up? Or do you want none of it, and do I sound slightly mad?
