California based indie studio Supergiant Games has revealed that it’s working on a new sci-fi action RPG called Transistor.

The studio’s follow-up to its debut project, 2010’s award-winning Bastion, is currently slated for release in early 2014 on unannounced platforms.

The game sees players take on the role of a young woman who assumes control of a powerful weapon called the Transistor after a failed attempt on their life with it. As she attempts to hunt down her assailants and they bid to recover the Transistor, she will unlock its mysteries. The first screens can be viewed above, the debut trailer is posted below, and an early build of the game will be playable this week at PAX East.

In a post on its website, Supergiant said it’s designing the game “to seamlessly integrate thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, complete with our studio’s signature melding of responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling”.

Enjoyed Bastion a bit, didn't like the ending much at all, but it left open a lot for a sequel :D Even if this isn';t related or whatever it'll be interesting to see what they do since we didn't really get that much from the trailer.
