Battlefield 3 'Back to Karkand' pre-order maps revealed

Shares

The contents of the Battlefield 3 pre-order bonus pack, a selection of four maps from Battlefield 2, were revealed by DICE today. The add-on, which includes classic weapons and vehicles, as well as exclusive rewards, Achievements, and Trophies, was announced earlier this week alongside the first gameplay trailer.

Posting on the Battlefield forums, DICE community manager Daniel Matros confirmed that the maps in question are Wake Island (surprise!), Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and Sharqi Peninsula.

DICE hasn't issued any clarification as to whether or not the map pack will be made available later as paid DLC, or if it will be exclusive to pre-order purchases, but as the developer has stated that the add-on will be available to early purchasers "at no extra charge," we assume that late-adopters will have a chance to grab it eventually.

Which are your favorite classic Battlefield maps?

Wake Island is just classic... I would love to play on these revamped maps, like sharqi and gulf of oman. Oh... i miss the map that was on the special forces expansion where it was mec vs. usa and the mec had to invade/capture points inside the usa carrier; those fights were epic, provided your team could get on there in time. I can't wait for BF3!!!

Does it matter? Everyone is going to play BF3 unless they're literally making nothing but new maps on the core disc.

Sorry for being off topic, but the Kirkland brand is named after the city where Costco's headquarters used to be. Bungie is currently in Kirkland, which is awesome, because it's close to where I live!

Read that as Kirkland. Battling over Costco/Signature Yogurt? Sign me up! Anyway, fave map? El Alamein (spelling*), all the way. Also the one in 2142 with the canal/ditch on one teams side (they also had a big building right near their titan position), forget the name.

I hope they do what they did with the Bad Company 2 VIP code, that would be nice. I hope there are even more bonuses with the special edition, because I will be buying that. Assuming there is one, that is.

Remake Battle Of Britain! I loved that map, Being British and making the desperate run to the AA guns before the German bombers and paratroopers made it across the sea!

Wake Island is in nearly every Battlefield game. I look forward to playing it in Battlefield 3!

Wake Island? Is that the same one from Battlefield 1943? Sorry, I never played Battlefield 2.

That is one hell of a pre-order bonus. I haven't put down money for anything since Mercs 2, but I think this might entice me to do so. Wake Island ftw.
