Bethesda bumps up Skyrim with Creation Kit and High-Res Textures

Bethesda's just released the eagerly-awaited Skyrim Creation Kit, allowing Steam players to get to work on that magnum opus you've all been planning since Skyrim came out. If you were charmed by the ponies or Macho Mans slowly trickling into Tamriel, imagine how much fun it'll be when they start infesting your Deku Trees or Half-Life maps or wherever else you see fit to put them. Visit the Skyrim Workshop for some inspiration.

If, on the other hand, your talents lean less toward “creating clever things” and more into the realm of “seeing and/or destroying pretty stuff,” you'll be preferring the High-Resolution Texture Pack, also out on Steam today. Doing pretty much exactly what it says, the Pack ought to give a new lease on Skyrim's finer details and wider vistas alike. Just make sure your machine's got the specs (Win Vista/7; 4GB system RAM; 1GB video RAM), or Bethesda won't be held responsible for any glitches that result, no matter how amusing. Both are available for free, immediate download over Steam.
