Capcom teases new Dead Rising release

Frank West isn't about to hang up his camera anytime soon. In fact, from what Capcom has posted on its official Dead Rising Facebook page, everyone's favorite zombie-murdering photojournalist may be heading on a work trip to “paradise”.

"I'm getting packing for my new adventure – camera, notebook and baseball bat,” wrote the fictional star of Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2's Case West and Off the Record off-shoots, adding, “What else would i need for a break in paradise? - Frank.”

The existence of a Dead Rising sequel is no surprise, but it is a mystery as to where Capcom will take the series. In an interview with CVG, Capcom's COO David Reeves said Blue Castle Games will once again be in charge of any such sequel, and Dead Rising 3 would move the story forward while bringing back a few old faces. He added Dead Rising 3 would likely be connected by digital content in the same vein as Capcom's hugely popular Case Zero and Case West DLC, explaining, "The idea would be that we'll bring digital content to bridge a link between DR2 and DR3. It's a bit like an online game in that way - a continuous story. I don't want to say episodic, but I think you'll find there'll be scriptwriters coming in to [continue the story]."

It's no coincidence that Capcom is teasing a new Dead Rising title just days before Spike TV's 2011 Video Game Awards. Or maybe it is. Let's just say we'll be shocked if Frank West's face doesn't make it into this Saturday's broadcast.
