Crazy eBay gamer hopes $35,000 for a NES and some games sounds about right

Shares

Have $35,000 to burn? Well, perhaps you would like a fine automobile? Too obvious, you say? Maybe invest in a low-risk offshore corporate start-up? We hear you; too risky in this financial climate. It sure is hard to have a ton of cash to dump and nothing worth spending it on, isn’t it?

Cracked-in-the-skull eBay seller ronald3868, then, has the deal for you. An original NES with 42 games, four controllers, a GameGenie, a zapper AND a soft-sided carrying case.

Above: Off. Your. Rocker. Sure is in pristine condition, though.

That’s right, for the low, low price of only $35,000 (or best offer, of course), you can be the proud owner of a Nintendo Entertainment System and 42 games. Why in hell would anyone ask for that kind of scratch for something worth a mere fraction of that cost? We’ll let our man ronald3868 tell it like it is straight from the eBay posting:

“I am down on my luck need to pay bills living pay check to pay check. this is my price possession the only thing I can say I own 100%. to some a nes system could mean nothing but to me its priceless. I hate to part with it but i need the money. You might say what a ridiculous price but thats how hard it is for me to part with it. I have 100% feedback. whoever buys it can verify that I really need the money. I can show you my bills and credit report to verify it and I will give proof that the bills got paid. I would like to personally hand over the nes bundle system over to the winner and personally thank him/her if possible.  God bless.”

The absurdity of all of this is that the Question/Answer section of the eBay listing is starting to pick up steam in giving the seller encouragement. He seems pretty grateful for their comments, but not as grateful as he'd be if he were $35K richer.

You may think that this is overpriced. You may think that this is ridiculous. You may also think that monkeys that shit fire while juggling cans of Dr. Pepper and riding unicycles are absurd. All of these beliefs are true. But we’ll bet you more bagels than a man can eat that we are going to follow this sale until its last possible second on the internet.

'monkeys that shit fire while juggling cans of Dr. Pepper and riding unicycles' are not absurd.....mine is awesome and a valued member of the household.

Wow, what a kind person to spend 50k on this. Glad to know there are people out there who still have hearts. :] Props to that person. And I'm glad that guy can pay his bills now. <3

why doesnt china just start making knock off snes, nes' and other old systems. They could make a killing with the retro crowd here close divvying

I've lost interest in obtaining "rare" items or helping give money away that I don't have. I always consider how much the item is compared to any other item i can buy. If I can buy a brand new car for the amount of a console, I say no way.

It really does make me happy and warms my heart knowing that a kind soul out there paid $50K for this. Good people are hard to come by these days.

Im not about to be thrown out on the streets because of poverty but I do have a perfect mint, never ever used copy of Metal Slug 1 (Japanese Version) for the Neo Geo. It has been kept in a protective cover since the moment it was bought, the only way you will get another like it is with a time machine. If anyone is interested make me an offer and I will stick it on eBay. Just to get an idea the minimum I would accept is 1400 GBP, cheers!

This whole thing was a scam. I lookedd at the guy's feedback and he sells tons of concert tickets to people. He also bought a classic gaming system from someone in November. These kind of people disappoint me. If you don't agree with me, go look for yourself. This whole money problem of hs couldn't have been real.

Though the tone is bitchy and clearly intent on selling a sob-story, I say good luck to the guy: perhaps someone out there considers this a steal, and both parties will wind up happy.

I have bills to pay. Anyone want to offer me £35,000 for an old broken hair dryer, some combs, an empty can of drink, expired bus passes and empty batteries? I really need the money for bills and to get a morgage. Ill show you the house i want to prove this point. Thank you.
  • nighthawk205 - July 17, 2010 5:57 a.m.

That's ridiculous. Good for him/her for getting the money that seemed needed, but it's still crazy that someone paid $50k in the first place for it.
  • CurryIsGood - July 17, 2010 4:58 a.m.

Id buy that for a dollar no more no less
  • FantasticMrStarFox - July 17, 2010 4:46 a.m.
