Crysis 3 on Wii U? Fat chance, says Crytek

Rasmus Hoejengaard, creative development director at Crytek, says there's “not a fat chance” of the game appearing on Wii U alongside more established platforms. Speaking to Destructoid, Hoejengaard dismissed the idea of Crytek's upcoming FPS running on Nintendo's upcoming console: “I don't think it's possible. Right now the launch platforms are PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I don't think it's on the cards to do a Wii U version.”

Hoejengaard allowed that this third installment of the famously tech-intensive series will utilize more economical means of pushing the hardware. “I would say that our game is less reliant on technical capabilities this time around because of the setting,” he explains: “You could remove a lot of the fancy render tech and still it'd look great... we want to ensure that the experience of playing the game is not going to differ from platform to platform, only the fidelity of the visuals.”

It's not clear, then, whether Crytek's reluctance stems from the Wii U's untested hardware or the console's unique controls – or something more political – but if we know you, you'll have a few ideas of your own, which you're actively encouraged to jot down in the space directly below these very words. Here's the Crysis 3 announcent trailer.
