Dead Head Fred to emerge at E3

D3Publisher today announced Dead Head Fred, an action game for the PSP due out early next year. The title - which, amazingly enough, has nothing to do with hippies - will be on display at E3 next week, and will showcase the first hero to not only sever the noggins of his enemies, but to use them to grant himself new abilities.

Taking place in a film-noiralternate universe, Dead Head Fred puts players in control of Fred Neuman, a private eye who gets murdered and then resurrected as a headless zombie%26hellip; with amnesia. Played for laughs, this gruesome turn of events is actually the game's central feature, letting Fred collect and wear the heads of defeated gangsters and mutants to take on their abilities.

Dead Head Fred promises "the most revolutionary camera to date on a handheld," so we're hoping that - if nothing else - it's found a way to get around the PSP's no-second-analog-stick problem. We'll know more next week.
