Dead or Alive 5 - Fighting Ladies trailer

Shares

Koei Tecmo's going for a one-two punch with Ninja Gaiden 3. Why? Not only Ryu Hayabusa's next adventure giving you the chance to julienne the opposition, the Collector's Edition comes packed with a playable demo of Dead or Alive 5, featuring four playable characters. Without further ado, we present a trailer for the ladies on the roster.

At least the characters don't look like plastic corpses anymore.

Well, if it isn't my two favorite fighters! Can't wait to play the demo with them after a day of Ninja Gaiden 3!

I do like the fact that they are trying new things, and I've decided not to pass judgement on the game until I've actually played the demo for it. I like some of the new character models, though Hitomi looks like a monkey. In the trailer you could see lots of little details like the player's clothes becoming dirty. In the preview with Akira and Kasumi, the water was even affecting there clothing. That's one thing I've always liked about the series, it's attention to detail. The environments aren't too much more visually stunning than Dead or Alive 4, but the number of things going in them has increased and there are tons of little things to spot. I just hope they've improved the character balance a bit more. I can't wait to see Tina, Helena, and Zack. I'm going to miss Dead or Alive 4's Bayman on Very Hard. He was pretty much psychic. Him and Alpha 152 were equally frustrating and fun to play. Also: I see the video makes use of "Age=99" for old time's sake...

Tentatively excited for this game. I've always enjoyed the series, and I'm glad to see it actually evolving. Honestly, I wish the series would go all out, and find a new niche somewhere in between being a more traditional fighter (like Street Fighter or Virtua Fighter), and something a little more accessible (like PowerStone or Smash Brothers), but still be distinct from something like MvC3.

I honestly still don't know how I feel about the addition of mid-fight QTEs, but at least they decided to keep the game's pace up. Apparently the controls will be more similar to Dead or Alive 3 rather than 4 which kind of sucks, but I guess it's fine if all anyone ever does is spam counters on the online... I'm not sure how I'd feel about completely changing the formula for the series. It'd be like making Syndicate a first person shooter by the way you're trying to change it, I think. (I still have Power Stone 1 and 2 on my Dreamcast. Good times.)

That was some cool action, but can a brother get some Tina Anderson action? It's always freakin' Kasumi or Ayane.

*Armstrong. And I agree. Where the hell is my main?
