Deus Ex: Mankind Divided lets you be non-lethal in combat
It's clear that Eidos Montreal is focussing on creating the perfect augmented experience this time around in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. With director Jean-Francois Dugas already confirming that Deus Ex: Human Revolution's boss fights, he also reveals in this month's Edge magazine that non-lethal playthroughs don't necessarily need to be stealth-based. Good news for the moral among us to still enjoy a good bout of fisticuffs and tasering every so often.
"We've always said we wanted you to be able to choose whether to kill everyone or kill no one, but the non-lethal tools we gave you in Human Revolution were...Basicially, if you weren't stealthy you were kind of fucked," explains Dugas. "They weren't quick weapons that could take out several enemies at once. This time, it's important that you can decided not to kill anyone, but still be a combat player - that kind of flexibility should be embraced."
This means that while non-lethal tools include weapons such as Tesla darts for stealth-based insta-unconsciousness, Jensen is also armed with fist-mounted electroshock tools for long range non-murderous takedowns midcombat. Perhaps we did ask for this.
