Diablo III's first expansion will arrive next year with a new Act and character class in tow. Diablo III: Reaper of Souls sets players against Malthael, the Angel of Death himself, in a battle to prevent the powers of Hell from being turned once more toward the destruction of Sanctuary.
Who better to fight the powers of death than a crusader? Definitely in no way to be confused with a paladin, the expansion's new class dons nigh-impenetrable armor and wield blessed flails and maces. The heroes will need a powerful arsenal to make it through Act V, which meanders through the deathly streets of Westmarch all the way to the ancient Pandemonium Fortress.
Crusaders don't get all the fun, of course. Every class will be bolstered with new abilities and gear which extends beyond the current level cap.
Blizzard did not specify Reaper of Souls' expected retail price, but StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria both retailed for $40 at launch. It also didn't say if or how the content would figure into Diablo III's upcoming console versions.
You can check out the expansion's opening cinematic below, but be wary of spoilers if you haven't finished Diablo III's campaign.
