Did Game of Thrones' Missandei just hint that she wants to play Iron Man?
Game of Thrones' Nathalie Emmanuel is already a fan favourite in the Westeros world, but could she be set to take the MCU by storm too? The British actress was part of the Women Who Kick Ass panel at San Diego Comic Con and when asked who was the one character she's like to play, regardless of gender, she mentioned a fairly well-known superhero.
"I quite like the Iron Man films," she said, before the crowd in Hall H erupted in applause. "There seems to be this issue of women in technology and science films and things like that, and I think the idea of playing some sort of science whiz that also kicks butt like Iron Man could be fun.”
As we know, Marvel has just recently announced that the new Iron Man in the comics will be black teenager Riri Williams. Tony Stark steps out of the Iron Man suit at the end of the comic book series Civil War II to make room for Riri, who he noticed when she built her own Iron Man suit in her MIT dorm room. Oh, and did we mention she's a science genius who enrolled at MIT at the age of 15?
This definitely sounds like the Iron Man Nathalie is talking about. There's obviously no plans for Robert Downey Jr. to step down as Iron Man yet, but he can't play the character forever, and if Marvel Studios decides to continue the highly popular Iron Man franchise, it might opt for a Riri Williams story. The response to the character in the comic book world has been overwhelmingly positive, and we might just know the perfect actress to take on the role...
Fingers crossed, people, fingers crossed.
Game of Thrones season 7 will debut in summer 2017.
