Exclusive: Jared Leto asked Grant Morrison for advice on the Joker

Jared Leto’s take on the Joker received mixed reactions from fans and critics alike, but comic book writer, Grant Morrison exclusively revealed to Comic Heroes magazine that he gave the actor some tips when it came to playing the iconic villain.

"It looks quite interesting." Morrison said when he sat down with Comic Heroes to talk about his new Santa superhero comic, Klaus. "He [Leto] called me to talk about his approach to the character and I steered him in a few directions. I'm keen to see if anything other than slicked back hair and the Marilyn Manson vibe made it into his performance."

Morrison also revealed that he thinks superhero movies need to take more chances: "I don’t think I’ve seen any great ones for a while. Age of Ultron was solid but naturally not quite the gamechanger the first Avengers was. We’re all familiar with the meat and potatoes superhero stuff, so I think it’s time they made Miracleman, Enigma, Flex Mentallo or something else that’s a bit more challenging."

Directed by David Ayer and co-starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie, Suicide Squad lands in the US and the UK on August 5 2016. Pick up a copy of the newly relaunched Comic Heroes from October 9 for the full interview with Morrison, plus much more.
