The "fact" about Liu Bei is incorrect. He neither created nor ruled over the Han Dynasty. He was a descendant of the Han, but the Han Dynasty had already been destroyed by the time Liu Bei came into his own. That's why his quotes mention "restoring" the Han. He wanted to rebuild the Han Dynasty. But it's called the Three Kingdoms Era. There wasn't another Dynasty for 50+ years, and Liu Bei was dead by then.

Well after playing practically every game from paradox interactive i think i can probably both hold myself in discussions against history proffessors, i can also probably do pretty decent when it comes to battle tactics as well, not only this i've also learned so much about culture from just free roaming in the Assassin's creed series

Bayonetta taught me Umbria is a real place in Italy. Also where Monica Bellucci is from.

Honestly I just finished p4g (gonna do another playthrough for the TRUE true ending, i must have that extra epilogue and stuff) and that game has a shit ton of random trivia in the school questions, enough to make a list on it's own. You can also understand a small bit of basic japanese language from the attacks if you look at them a bit and compare moves.

Damn I need to play more games, I barely knew any of these. The pincer one I knew, but that is because of that apocalypse WW II show.

The Kar98k is a GERMAN bolt action rifle and the PPSH-41 is a RUSSIAN submachine gun. THE MORE YOU KNOW "Unless, of course, you’ve gotten your hands on a real MSR sniper rifle recently, then more power to you." Me and my brother own an Airsoft Kar98k, a SOCOM M14, and dragonov SVD. its pretty sweet

Cool article, and I was just thinking about the subject of tangential learning in games the other day when coming up with an askgamesradar question, y'all were on it though.

The only games I've played here are Final Fantasy. I don't know that they ever told where Ifrit comes from, but I think Beyond Oasis had an Ifrit, and that would be closer to its origin in the real world.

All of my knowledge about Renaissance Italy comes from those fact files in Assasins Creed 2 + Brotherhood.

Just to be pedantic Liu Bei did not create and rule over the Han Dynasty he created and ruled over the sate of Shu Han commonly known as Shu, the name Shu Han came from the lands of Shu where they were based and the Han Dynasty which Liu Bei was linked to by family, and the Three Kingdoms era came after the fall of the Han Dynasty.

I've actually answered several questions at scholastic bowl meets because of knowledge I've acquired through watching the Yogscast Civ 5 let's plays. Iv'e also answered Amaterasu as the Japanese sun goddess TWICE, both times shocking the moderator who assumed no one would know it. Thanks video game for making me look like I actually know stuff!

Assassins Creed Revelations taught me Istanbul and Constantinople were the same city. Also, I googled Carbuncle. Now I have something worse to show people.
