Fez Treasure Maps and Artifacts locations guide

There are more things to find in the mind bending game known as Fez than just cubes, cube bits, and anti-cubes. There are also treasure maps that give you special information on how to get to seemingly out of reach places, strange artifacts that will get you some Achievements/Trophies, and even some fancy red cubes that form a heart when combined.

The purposes that some of these serve is still a mystery, but we have put this guide together to show you how to get each and every last one... that we know about so far! Also note that it doesn't matter in what order you attain the treasure maps and artifacts, however to get the Skull Artifact the old fashioned way, you will need to find the four maps that show the proper route before being able to get it.

Looking for more help with Fez? We also have an Anti-Cube locations guide.

Treasure Maps

Treasure Map #1

At the beginning of the game, you will get this treasure map by going through the locked boiler room door in the starting village. This treasure map will be the second that you need to help you get the Skull Artifact in the cemetery.

Treasure Map #2

You can find this treasure map located behind a locked door at the base of the Lighthouse. The map reveals the hidden block necessary to jump on to reach the chest at the top of the stone section in the area directly southeast of the main warp gate area.

Treasure Map #3

This treasure map is located in a chest on a floating island halfway up a screw thread, in the area directly south of the windmill near the green sky warp gate. It will reveal the pattern of invisible blocks that are needed to use to reach the Anti-Cube on the floating platform above the spinning stairs pillar.

Treasure Map #4

You can find this treasure map located in a chest in the warp area near the telescope with the starry sky. Go to the right of the warp gate and jump over to the floating platform to find the treasure map, which shows the invisible blocks that allow you to access the chest that is located directly above the forest area with the hut.

Treasure Map #5

This treasure map is located in the area due south of the main warp gate hub. It can be located through a purple door to the left side of the area. This treasure map will be the fourth map that you need to help you locate the Skull Artifact in the cemetery.

Treasure Map #6

This treasure map is a QR code, that you get from opening the chest that the treasure map from the chest to the right of the starry sky warp gate gives you. When you open the chest, it will give you this QR code that reveals the code: R, R, R, L, R, R, R, L and then an Anti-Cube will appear.

Treasure Map #7

This map piece can be found in the forest by going through the locked door next to the hut. Go through and follow the crumbling platforms up to the very top, where the treasure chest will be that holds the map. This treasure map will be the third that you need to help you locate the Skull Artifact in the cemetery.

Treasure Map #8

This burned map piece can be found once you have performed the sequence of actions (LEFT, L, RIGHT, R, UP, JUMP, DOWN, R, R as read on the large stone to the right of the waterfall) to open the large waterfall allowing you to enter it. Once inside, drop down to the door below after turning the valve handle, and inside the chest will be this fragment.

To use the map, enter the main warp hub and look for the doorway at the bottom of the screen then enter to find a room of candles. To do the rest you will have need to have completed the game and started a New Game +.

Use first person mode and look at the ground to see the same symbol that appears on the burnt treasure map. Stand in the open square on the ground and press: UP, R, UP, JUMP, DOWN, L, UP, DOWN. When you do, a large black block will rise out of the ground and float above you.

Treasure Map #9

The final treasure map can be found in the cemetery above the crypt, the area beside the Owl Statue, with the locked door. Climb the blocks as the lightning makes them appear and pop the chest open when you reach the floating platform high above. This treasure map is the first that you will need to help you locate the Skull Artifact in the cemetery.
