Gordon Freeman to return in 2012 (in small plastic toy form). Also, replica portal guns for all!

At E3, toy manufacturer supremo NECA announced a deal "to produce consumer products based on Valve's much-acclaimed games". Obviously this was very exciting news, if a bit of a tease given the lack of oh-so-sexy details. Things got sexy today though, with the revelation of the first full line-up, due for release in 2012. It turns out that those scintillatingly described "consumer products" will cover the full range of Valve's main current franchises, from Half-Life to Portal to Team Fortress 2 to Left 4 Dead.

Want to know exactly what you'll be sticking on your shelf and trying to justify as a legitimate piece of ornamental decoration next year? Well scroll down and I'll tell you.

From Half-Life 2, NECA will spawn a Gordon Freeman action figure. Portal 2 is going to get a fair bit more, including action figures of co-op protagonists Atlas and P-Body, Weighted Companion Cubes in both resin and plush form (probably similar to the now sold-out ones that used to be available from Valve), and best of all, a replica goddamn portal goddamn gun.

Outside of the Half-Life universe, Pyro, Heavy and Demo Man figures are coming from TF2, and Left 4 Dead 2 is getting Boomer and Smoker figures. No word on sizes or pricing yet, and given the obvious gaps in the line-up I'd assume these are only series one of what will probably be a long string of releases. The future possibilities though, are great. It would be insane not to predict a big expensive GLaDOS diaorama for example, and surely both sets of Left 4 Dead protagonists are going to be coming eventually too.

No pics of the first batch yet, unfortunately, so until they turn up, enjoy my mock-up of NECA's talking Gordon Freeman action figure. Just pull the string to hear all of your favourite Half-Life 2 catchphrases in Gordon's original voice!

Later on I'd expect a replica of the Gravity Gun and a headcrab figure, Medic and Scout action figures, Chell and Wheatley, and the Survivors of L4D2. And may we one day have a GLaDOS figure that says all of her quotes from both games.

Just a bit, Radimir. P.s. What the guy above me said, at least release more than one concept art screenshot before Skyrim. (and me vanishing because of it)

@Radimir You forgot his other famous line, "I have to have my tongue cut out and vocal cords severed in order to join Black Mesa? Well if you insist."

Well, the mere fact that Valve have given the go-ahead for a Gordon Freeman action figure means the franchise is still very much alive and kicking. ... YAY! CAN I HAZ HL3 PLZ? Unless this is all a hoax, which, given that I know the interwebs quite well, is a real possibility. @Radimir Wrong game, man.

I hope it features his famous catchphrase, "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum... And I'm all outta gum."
