Has Jena Malone's Batman v Superman role been revealed?
Since Jena Malone was first spotted on the set of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, rumors concerning her role haven't stopped circulating. Early sightings of the actress donning a bright red hairdo led many to believe she was playing Carrie Kelley, a female Robin who comes to the aid of Batman in The Dark Knight Returns. The evidence was stacked at the time, but seeing as trailers have shown a forlorn Batman gazing at the suit once worn by his sidekick, it looks as though Malone's playing someone else. So, who could it be?
A list of character profiles in a superhero edition of French magazine Cine Saga includes Malone as... Barbara Gordon. That's Commissioner Gordon's daughter who also goes by the name Batgirl - yes, Alicia Silverstone played her in Batman & Robin. While we's normally remain skeptical about the news, it backs up another rumor from last summer which told us the same thing.
Another character referenced in the article is played by Scoot McNairy. His role was recently reported to be an unnamed civilian injured during the Man Of Steel finale, who's most definitely not Jimmy Olsen. According to the profile, that earlier rumor is a load of tosh because he is playing the Daily Planet reporter. Confused? Well, until Warner Bros. makes an official announcement we'll never know for certain. Luckily we won't have to wait long as the movie opens in five weeks.
Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will arrive in UK and US cinemas on March 25, 2016.
