I Am Alive is alive, coming to XBLA/PSN this winter

I Am Alive is... alive! Since the first information on Ubisoft's adventure title was released a few years back, the publisher has kept news on the game very, very quiet. Its lack of a showing at trade shows and conventions lead many to believe that it had simply been cancelled. That's actually not the case, according to Ubisoft. Instead, the publisher has reworked the game, and is not only moving forward with it, but it's gunning for a 'winter' release for the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

"We know people have been waiting for this game to arrive, and we believe it's going to be worth the wait," said Adam Novickas, director of marketing at Ubisoft, who apparently hasn't read any of the reviews for Duke Nukem Forever. "I Am Alive presents a unique take on the post apocalyptic, survival genre by creating more complex and emotional situations for the player. Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network are the perfect platforms to leverage the mature and challenging experiences of the game."

Ubisoft has also released a trailer for the title, which shows off some gameplay and awesome, gigantic enviornments. It looks like a lot of the time in I Am Alive will be spent trying not to die, which, we suppose, makes sense, considering the title. It wouldn't be all that appropriate if it ended up being a kart racer, would it?

I'm guessing Ubi did really well with From Dust's XBLA/PSN sales so that's why I Am Alive will be there as well. That looks like it'll be similar to Assassin's Creed and hey I'm all for that.

It looks like there'll be climbing mechanics similar to Ubisoft's hit, Assassin's Creed. Sure will fit well with this game :D recaptcha: agents weekledg --> hmm, haven't heard about AGENT too...

Sorta like Metro 2033 meets Enslaved.

I knew this wasn't dead about a year ago when I translated that one achievement in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood that said "I Am Alive". I just knew it was referring to this game. Well played, Ubisoft. Well played indeed.

Looks interesting, I'm definitely curious to see how it is when it comes out. If the reviews are positive I'll definitely try it out.

Looks pretty great to me. I'm a little worried since it went through a bit of development hell, but for an XBLA game it looks surprisingly good.

Ubi usually puts a lot more money and effort into these kinds of titles, so I'm looking forward to it.

I was interested before they announced that it was an XBLA title...

Ubisoft Shanghai is a suspect developer - Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, anyone? - but Ubi more generally is responsible for Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed, so here's hoping!

I think that looks awesome. A pure a survival game.

I'm disappointed in the re-work. The original was bright, and saturated. This looks like every other game that is trying to be gritty. In the original, we got a guy who was trying to survive, and get out of Chicago following an earthquake. That story seemed a lot more compelling.

This is the mystery trailer that was shown a week or two back, isn't it? I know I've seen this before, it can't just be a deja vu.

Hmmmmm I liked the original trailer better. It was about a man who had survived an epic disaster and was trying to reach help as well as reach his wife. This just seems to be another Fallout. But without most of the history and cultural stylings.

This looks like what I expected Disaster:Day of Crisis to be like, actually looks really good. Hoping for this one.
