Watch the new Assassin's Creed movie story featurette and let Fassbender explain it all
If you're an Assassin's Creed fan you already know the backstory for the upcoming film. But perhaps it will soothe you to hear of the war between the Assassins and the Templars from the stars themselves: the Assassins want to safeguard the freedom of humanity while the Templars want to control people. They leave out the part where the Templar argue that they're saving humans from their own destructive nature, but "bad guy justification" doesn't always make the cut for promo videos.
Directed by Justin Kurzel and starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Ariane Labed, Michael K. Williams, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson, Assassin's Creed opens in US theatres on December 21, 2016 before opening in UK cinemas on January 1, 2017.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
