Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance has 50 Spirits ripe for collecting. These little guys can aid Sora and Riku by attacking in battle and granting special abilities. Using the Link command, Sora can even team up with Spirits for special attacks, and Riku can absorb a Spirit to enter a special combat form. With boosts like these, you’ll want to collect all 50 Spirits and use them as much as possible.
That’s where we come in. This guide will list all the ingredients you need to create a certain Spirit, and where to find the Spirit’s recipe if there is one. We’ll also tell you what special attacks Sora can use with the Spirit, and what combat styles Riku can adapt from them.
The Basics
Before creating a Spirit, you must first combine two ingredients. You may also sacrifice an ability to raise the Spirit’s initial stats. Ingredients can be purchased from Moogle Shops and found in chests, but they are also randomly dropped from Nightmares in battle and gained from Link Portal challenges. Be warned that farming is expected if you plan to synthesize all 50 Spirits.
Recipes can also be found or purchased. These will list the ingredients needed to create the named Spirit, but you can always experiment with ingredients and see what other Spirits you can make. You don’t actually need a recipe to make a Spirit, so don’t sweat it if you can’t track all the recipes down. Most Spirits can be created multiple ways anyway. Most Spirits can be created multiple ways as well. In fact, the better the ingredients, the higher the Spirit’s initial level.
Once you’ve created a Spirit, it’s important to spend time feeding and petting to establish a connection. Doing so will heighten their combat efficiency and net you some handy Link Points, used for unlocking abilities on the Ability Link board. Feeding and petting will also alter a Spirit’s Disposition. Keep this in mind, as some pathways on the Ability Link board only open when a Spirit reaches a certain Disposition. Playing minigames and feeding your Spirits will also boost their stats, a useful thing if you plan to battle through the Flick Rush mode. Now, on to the Spirits!
