The Last of Us: four-issue Dark Horse comic series and deluxe art book announced

Dark Horse comics has announced The Last of Us: American Dreams, a four-issue series penned by The Last of Us lead writer, Neil Druckmann. The comics will be a prequel to developer Naughty Dog’s intriguing PS3 action-survivor, and will focus on young Ellie’s backstory leading up to the events of the game.

Dark Horse’s The Last of Us: American Dreams blurb reveals more:

“Ellie, the heroine of The Last of Us, has grown up in a postpandemic world, shuttled between military orphanages in one of the last remaining quarantine zones and resigned to the fact that when she’s old enough, she’ll be channeled into the army or left to fend for herself—until she meets an older girl determined to find a third way out. American Dreams explores Ellie’s backstory and her first steps on the road that led her to her companion Joel.”

The first issue of The Last of Us: American Dreams is scheduled for spring 2013.

Also announced is a deluxe ‘The Art of the Last of Us’ hardback, which will catalogue the game’s art, including its characters, infected, and environments. According to Dark Horse, The Art of the Last of Us will ‘launch in conjunction with the release of the game’.

The Last of Us is currently scheduled for a Q1/Q2 2013 on PS3.

I don't have the energy to really hate anything properly. Most things I think are OK or inoffensively average. I do love quite a lot of stuff as well, though.
