Layton 7 is coming to 3DS, iOS, Android
Professor emeritus
The Layton series will take a new direction after the eponymous puzzle-solver's final starring role in Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. Level-5 revealed Layton 7 at its company-wide press conference yesterday, Kotaku reports, a new game headed to 3DS, iOS, and Android.
Here's the curious new title's description, straight from Level-5:
"Players take on various character roles; you may be a taxi driver, a young boy, a dog, a fine lady, a philanthropist, an elderly man, or even a zombie. The player will earn points as they fulfill a given role. But, what is the role of these characters? And what is the greater meaning of these roles to begin with? The latest title in the LAYTON series is shrouded in mystery and is about to begin!"
No release date or indications of a Western release were given, but every other main entry in the brain teaser series has made it to the U.S. and Europe, eventually. Level-5 said the series has sold 15 million copies worldwide since debuting in 2007 (via Siliconera).
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy will hit Europe on November 8 and North America sometime in 2014.

Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo.
