Lightsaber and Wii - it's ON!
Activision announces The Force Unleashed for Nintendo console
Sept 18, 2007
Activision has answered the prayers of gamers by announcing that it will be releasing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on Wii next spring. And - yes! - Sith and Jedi wannabes will be able to use the Wiimote like a lightsaber, with an exclusive duel mode even making the feature list that will accommodate head-to-head player battles.
The Wii game will follow the same storyline as the previously announced versions - its set in the period between Episodes III and IV and players take on the role of Darth Vader's secret apprentice. And while it won't look as impressive as the PS3 and 360 offerings, the chance to swing and swoosh a lightsaber about in true Star Wars style (while using the nunchuk to "torment foes with Force powers") will surely make it an essential purchase for fans.
LucasArts president Jim Ward is certainly excited: "The Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console's motion-orientated controllers really bring the game to life."
Jim, we can't wait to give it a whirl.
