Mario and Sonic take to the streets of London in new Olympics 2012 video

The Olympics takes the competition between athletes from all the world’s nations very seriously, while the idea of a fat plumber competing against a human-sized hedgehog is inherently ridiculous. It’s with that hilarious juxtaposition in mind that we’ve been watching the various Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympics trailers, and this newest video is the craziest yet. Watch this footage of the game’s new party mode that takes Mario and Sonc’s posse to the streets of London. Seriously.

Showcasing the game’s new Party Mode, the animals/plumbers take to the streets of England’s capital to engage in some less-than-Olympics-worthy minigames. Thrill as they run by cars driving on the left side of the road. Watch as Mario chases after what we’re assuming are the Queen’s diamonds. See the colorful characters run over a bridge we assume is in London… Maybe a UK editor would have been a better fit to write this. Anyway, this mode is just part of Mario and Sonic’s quest for Olympics gold, which hits US stores November 15 and UK retailers November 18.
