As promised, Iwata and co are taking Nintendo's foray into mobile gaming very seriously. During the company's financial report yesterday, the Nintendo president and CEO announced that a producer from Mario Kart will be in charge of development on one or more of the company's first mobile games. As reported by Sankei (translation from Nintendo Everything) Iwata didn't name which producer specifically but it's speculated that it is Hideki Konno, producer on Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8.
Iwata also announced that five Nintendo mobile games will release before March 2017. This is a reassuring figure that means that even with the collaboration with DeNA, Nintendo is taking development seriously and not rushing out a slew of mobile titles.
With Nintendo reporting it's first annual profit in four years and yesterday announcing a collaboration with Universal Parks and resorts for official Nintendo rides and attractions, things are definitely looking positive for the company. And if that means mobile Mario Kart? Even better.
