Our first impression of the game after playing through about half a season with several players is positive. The pitching feels tighter and the contact bonus the Progressive Batting system provides is noticeable and quickly became a desired aid when at bat. There’s also a customizable jukebox that let’s you listen to your own music. We were also pleased to find franchise favorite mini-modes Home Run Derby and King of the Diamond still intact and as fun as ever.
We weren’t able to try out the online play yet but we’ll give you the full multiplayer scoop when we get our hands on the retail version of the game, pinky swear.
All that said, the PSP edition of MLB 08 The Show is shaping up to deliver a great portable baseball experience. Check back here for our full written review in early March when the game ships.
