Shares

Pokemon X and Y is now out in the wild for the world to enjoy, as you've no doubt noticed when we posted our Pokemon X and Y review along with our complete Pokedex, and guides to Mega Stone locations and Pokemon-amie. But X and Y have so many more secrets to share beyond those, including a number of Easter Eggs fans have only begun to find. In this week's episode we detail one of our favorite references to classic Pokemon games and give hints to more that are hiding within the Kalos region. See all of that in the video below! (And be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don't miss another episode.)

Pokemon X and Y Weekly is GamesRadar's weekly Pokemon X and Y show. The title was a pretty obvious hint. Come back every Tuesday for the latest news, analysis, and speculation about the next generation of Pocket Monsters. You can also check out our Pokemon X and Y review.

I don't now if this is something that always happens in the game, but yesterday I found a ghost/zombie in Lumiose City and it scared the pants off me. Just wondering if anyone else saw it. I was in one of the generic buildings with an elevator on North Boulevard (the receptionist says she's moved from Unova and doesn't know anything). Ride it to the second floor, and this woman will literally "slide" past you with a transfixed stare and walking pose, with creepy music. She then stops and says something like "you're not the one" before disappearing. Genuinely unsettling. I know that the Pokémon games have a precedent for having rarely-appearing eerie ghost women (Old Chateau, Marvelous Bridge) so I thought this was part of that trend.

Any chance we might be able to get a GR vs fans poke tournament going on when the pokebank comes out?

Hey Hollander, any chance of you writing an article on the Poke Radar? I've been using it like I would in Diamond/Pearl but I can't get any good chains. Also, there are so few good grass spots to chain at. Those things along with there are now 5 grass tiles that shake instead of 4, and sometimes finding nothing at a tile make the whole thing very confusing.

The Youngster that Hollander talks to first actually does say that he likes shorts because they are "comfy and easy to wear" before handing over the prize money when originally battling him, which is the exact quote from Gen 1. Also, they seem to be adding an obligatory Youngster Joey to every game now. There's one in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Unova and now Kalos. Can't remember if there was one in Sinnoh though. Here are 3 of my favourite Easter eggs/references that I've found so far (don't read if you want to find for yourself): A man in Courmarine City plays the "Unwavering Emotions" song from Black and White when spoken to. Another man in a Pokémon Center (can't remember where) says that he's recently been playing HarmoKnight (the eShop game by Game Freak). Santalune Forest is the spitting image of Viridian Forest in Kanto. It also has the same Pokémon, besides the new additions like Scatterbug etc, and similar item placement. Also, not really an Easter Egg, but the Rival battle theme's intro is a remixed version of the intro to the Unova Rival battle theme.
