Quake 3 on consoles finally looking imminent, insert "LOL, crappy controllers" comment here

Which of course prompts old PC Quake snobs like myself to point accusinglyat the console controllers I ordinarily loveand lambast them with cruel, cruel laughter.

HAHA! STUPID ANALOGUES! HAHAHA! Etc. Ahem.

Above: YOU WILL NEVER DO THIS WITHOUT A KEYBOARD AND MOUSE!

Anyway, the main point is that one of the finest (hell, probably the finest) multiplayer FPS in history now seems finally set to hit current-gen consoles. Why am I so sure? Why, because the Australian ratings board has told me, of course. Arecent certification pageon the board's site lists something called Quake Arena Arcade byid Softwareas a multiformat release. It also references "strong violence", so I reckon we're onto a winner here.

The multiformat thing is a nice surprise too. The previous thinking was that the Quake port was going to be Xbox 360 only, but it seems something has persuaded id to decide otherwise. Probably the PS3's keyboard and mouse support. Though to be fair, both PlayStation Move and the Wii remote could be great too.

So what do you reckon? Would you lap up some console Quake? Or are you happy playing Quake Live for free on PC?
