Security breached in new XCOM: Enemy Within trailer

2K Games has launched a new trailer for Firaxis’ upcoming XCOM: Enemy Within. The video focuses on EXALT, a rogue group undermining XCOM field operations by acquiring alien technology for its own devious uses. “Your previous directive to preserve all life on earth has been rescinded,” the trailer’s narrator says. “You are to use all available resources to locate and eliminate these traitors.

Enemy Within will launch on November 12 in the US (November 15 everywhere else) as a $30 PC and Mac expansion for XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It’ll be bundled with the original game on PS3 and Xbox 360 in the $40 Commander's Edition.

Firaxis senior producer Garth DeAngelis told Joystiq last month that Enemy Within was simply too large a file to release as console DLC. "For the expansion on the PC, it was fairly straightforward,” he said. “But when it came to the consoles, it was too big. If we wanted to deliver the same content to the console players, we had to do it this way as a standalone expansion on a disc. We couldn't simply just patch it in."
