Street Fighter X Mega Man announced, free PC game celebrates both series’ anniversaries

Shares

You need only view a Mega Man fan site or forum to know that the Blue Bomber’s fans are dying for a new entry in the series for some time. If you were paying attention to those fans, you may also have noticed that Mega Man’s 25th anniversary is next week on December 17, not too long after fellow Capcom franchise Street Fighter turned 25. Well, to celebrate all of that Capcom has just announced a new, FREE Mega Man game that crosses over with Street Fighter and it’s out in just seven days. See for the first time Street Fighter X Mega Man…

Timed for the day Mega Man turns 25, this NES throwback is a brand new Mega Man adventure, only the robot masters have been replaced with classic members of the Street Fighter roster, including Ryu, Blanka, and Chun-Li. We’ll have more info on how this intriguing project came to be, but for now just know that it will be available for download on December 17, 2012 for PC. Are the Mega Man fans out there excited?

This is so cool. Maybe next could be Megaman X Capcom ? With several Capcom characters as bosses. ~ Dante, Ashura, Date..etc. Maybe even MegaMan x Capcom Vilians? - With bosses such as Bison, Pyron, Deus, Wesker, Sigma, Bilstein,..etc. Man, the possibilities. C'mon Capcom.

It's an awkward moment when you see a trailer from a fan game look much interesting than the official.

Wow, good to see that everyone isn't acting like a jaded prick because Capcom isn't giving its fans an epic fully featured game as compensation. I'm willing to wait so long as they got through with it when they get their act together. This game was announced in the fallout of Legends 3's cancellation, so everyone has an excuse to call this a cheap PR bid and accuse Capcom of cutting corners. Well, okay, it is a PR bid and a very GOOD one at that. This game looks awesome, and I'm unashamedly excited. Thanks Capcom. Also, its free, so they aren't making a cheap buck off of it.

It's basically a mega-man game that has Street fighter characters as bosses instead of robot masters. I don't really see how it can turn out wrong, specially if you like megaman games or just nice, old school hard games in general.

As a Mega Man fan and Street Fighter fan I am stoked. It is like a fan game that is filled with passion of nostaliga, except it is actually being made by Capcom. A nice gift for the 25th anniversary.

Graphics aren't everything. The game is clearly meant to be sort of nostalgic with a retro feeling to it, while still being something new. And it's FREE. Did you even read the article or did you skip straight to the video?

Blame apple's anal policy of closed software, not the developers.

Ever heard of "Virtual Machines"? Running a copy of Windows within your Mac OS. VERY processing intensive, but works wonders for simpler games like this.
