The latest batch of Star Wars: Rogue One images offer a clearer look at costumes, cast and that creepy Stormtrooper doll

We sniffed out plenty of plot details on Rogue One from the first trailer and received new intel on the starships and newest recruits at this year's Star Wars Celebration. But hey, this is Star Wars - we'll happily take more teasers and pictures to pore over until the movie arrives later this year. As this is an anthology spin-off that concludes juuuust before A New Hope begins, there's plenty of reasons to clap our hands like children whenever we get a closer look into that world.

Luckily, Lucasfilm has dropped a whole gallery of high quality pics from the film. The collection below shines a light on the Rebels' costumes and the Deathtroopers'.... uhh... toys? Check them out:

You might recognise some of these pics but these offer more details, which is what counts when you're trying to count just how many pockets the Rebels have on their uniforms. The most unnerving image has to be the one showing a Deathtrooper holding a seemingly broken Stormtrooper toy. But is it a toy? That could easily be a voodoo doll which makes it way creepier. Alas, there's no glimpse of Darth Vader in this batch, so fingers crossed this week's new trailer will reveal him in all his evil glory.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Alan Tudyk, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to open in UK and US cinemas on December 16, 2016.
