Twelve sequels we actually want

Game needing a sequel: Blast Corps

Original game format: N64

Why it needs a sequel: Blast Corps was a charming little game which wanted nothing more out of life than to provide us with the delight of smashing the living hell out of everything in sight. Truly, a worthy vocation, and one which it carried out with a great deal of pride. Of course, there was a token plot regarding the need to destroy several cities in order to clear the way for an oncoming nuclear missile or something, but we all knew that was just an excuse to be destroying things, so destroy things we did. A lot.

It’s about time we had another good smashy game. Deep gameplay and multi-layered plots are all well and good, but there’s nothing more therapeutic in gaming than the rapid conversion of a large building into a much smaller pile of dust and rocks. Crackdown switched us back onto gleeful sandbox destruction last year, so let’s now take that cue and scale things right up. We’ve missed stomping on skyscrapers as a massive robot, and we’d like to do it again with current gen physics.

What we want from a sequel: Don’t complicate things, just let us destroy. The original Blast Corps concept was sound, so all we really want is to be able to do it all again with modern tech fuelling the festival of mayhem. Give us more detailed carnage, more hardware to play with, complex Havok-powered physics models for every building in the city, and the option of running around on foot with explosives and rocket launchers to really get into the thick of the action. Frankly, such a game would make the inner 8-year old in each of us nerdgasm to death.

i think that a game that needs a sequel is ssx tricky. they could make a new version on the wii with the balnce board. i think the game would kick ass. and to push you shove with the wimote and numchuck

I'd add Little Big Adventure to the list, the last game of the series is more than a decade old and there is still a community supporting modifications for it, fan made content and so on. Just youtube it and you'll see for yourself. LBA fans scream for a sequel more than anything else around.

One game that really, really needs a sequel? So much so that it spawned it's own imitation series in the wildly acclaimed Fallout (because then developers Interplay couldn't get the rights to the actual IP). That game? Wasteland. Unless you've been gaming since the Apple II and the x86, you might not have heard of this, but rest assured it is one of the greatest RPG's of all time. As previously mentioned Interplay (and now Bethesda in their footsteps) created a legendary RPG series that many felt was the spiritual sequal to Wasteland, but as great as Fallout is, it's not the same. EA has been sitting on the rights to this game for decades. Why they haven't done anything with this IP I'll never know. One thing I do know? EA owns one of the greatest RPG development studios in history (Bioware). They own one of the most classic RPG's ever made. Someone over there needs to put two and two together!

Road Rash, Zombies Ate my Neighbors, and Earthworm Jim all desperately need sequels. Those games gave me some of my best memories from the Genesis. I'd throw Gunstar Heroes in there too. Take a Castle Crashers-style approach and make a top-notch 2D game that recaptures the feel of the original with HD textures and online co-op.

I comepletely agree on Road Rash. But I have to agree with Spokes350Z, Republic Commando needs a sequel. It almost breathed out a sequel! The end of the game was a start to a new mission. WTF!?!

what about Star Wars: Republic Commando. That left off on a cliff hanger and it came out in 2005.

Kid Icarus, of course, would be awesome, but I'm amazed they put Blast Corps on here. I swear I thought I was the only person that played that game. I loved it though, so I'm stoked to see it on the list. Too bad Microsoft owns Rare now though, it woulda been cool on the Wii. Zombies Ate My Neighbors was cool and I'd love a sequel, but I've been talkin about a new Killer Instinct for a while and I still don't know why they haven't done it.
