Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will feel a little more modern
I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
When you're playing through Drake's Fortune in Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, you may notice it feels a bit more like Among Thieves and Drake's Deception than you remember.
Beyond bumping up the frame rate, resolution, and visual effects, the set of PS4 remasters will also sprinkle some of the gameplay refinements Naughty Dog implemented in later chapters back throughout the trilogy. Developer Bluepoint plans to keep the changes subtle, but as long as Drake's Fortune loses its horrid motion-controlled grenade throwing, the battle's already half won.
A playable demo of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will hit the PlayStation Store this summer, so you'll be able to see if the gameplay tweaks meet your approval before the full game comes out on October 7 in the US and 8 in the UK. Until then, you can see Uncharted 2's memorable helicopter chase scene looking scrumptiously smooth in the new screenshots above and MeriStation gameplay video below.
