That question is not fair... There are too many! Excluding Borderlands and Borderlands 2 (because then it's unfair), the first ones that come to mind are : The gravity gun from Half-Life 2 ; The M95 sniper from Bad Company 2 (and likely other shooters) ; Agatha's gun - can't remember the name, it was a unique .44 scoped magnum - in Fallout 3 ; Lincoln repeater from the same game ; The very obvious Portal Gun ; RCP90 from GoldenEye ; Red9 from RE4 ; Plasma Beam from Metroid Prime ; The list could go on and on...

The shrink ray from Duke Nukem. Shrink em and then step on them.

Definitely the Bane from Borderlands 2

Oh God, uh... my favorite new weapon is the Incinerator Cannon in Halo 4. But ALL TIME? Probably the Sheepinator from Ratchet and Clank. But maybe not... SO MANY GOOD ONES.

AK47 in any video game ever. My favorite gun in real life too. Also the Handcannon and Chigago Typewriter from RE4. Devestation. I like a lot of guns.

The Lancer from Gears of War. It may seem obvious but it's a gun... with a chainsaw on it. You can't argue with that.

I have to go with the M920 Cain from Mass Effect 2. Sure it's slow as hell, dangerous, and impractical for almost EVERY situation, but it shoots nukes damn it! It's pretty freaking dramatic too. After the thing finally charges up and fires the game slows down for a split second so that you can watch in amazement as your enemies are consumed by a miniature mushroom cloud. Even after detonation you can see little bits of ash floating around the impact site. Oh how I miss the almighty M920 Cain...

I remember the first time I got that and I didn't read the description very well, so I decided to use it at point blank range. Yeah, that doesn't go over very well.

The FarSight laser rifle from Perfect Dark. It's scope has X-ray vision and it can fire through walls. It's secondary firing method auto-targets and tracks enemies. A more unbalanced gun has never been created.

It's got to be the Widow from Mass Effect 2. When you pick it up and it starts talking about how it's an anti-materiel weapon and how it would break your bones trying to use it if you weren't the amazing Commander Shepard... Using it as an Infiltrator made you feel so powerful, as a simple headshot would obliterate the enemy. It doesn't hurt that I once used that gun in ME3 multiplayer to somehow headshot three guardians with one bullet from the opposite side of the map. Yeah, it was a lucky shot, but it felt good.

That is a great gun, making a headshot with it can be very satisfying. But if your guns start talking to you, you might need to take a break.

No, you only need to be worried when the gun start telling you to kill people for no reason. It's totally fine if it gives you advice on which movies to see or whether or not to invest in a 401k.

All of the guns from TimeSplitters 2. Those things were fantastic.
  • SurrealBrouhaha - December 12, 2012 8:01 a.m.

I remember the gloriously overpowered homing missile launcher with fondness...

I went to the wiki earlier to look at the old weapons and characters again... And the nostalgia, man, the nostalgia...

I still have it and play it with friends frequently

Nice picks, although in a perfect world, every gun on this list would have been from Ratchet & Clank. Every one of those games has at least one memorable weapon (even if they do slightly push the definition of "gun" sometimes.) My favourites are probably the Suck Cannon for letting you kill your enemies with, well, your enemies, as well as the Lava/Liquid Nitrogen gun for roasting/deep freezing everything in sight with its unique dribbly fountain of death. Also the Dual Vipers took all the good parts about the games' previous handguns and multiplied it by two, so you could finally feel like a dual-weilding amazo-Lombax whilst hoovering up bolts. There was even a cheat that let you do it properly gangsta-style. Oh, also, the Fruit Bazooka from Crash 3. Because...fruit bazooka.

Too bad they ain't involve M4A1 w/ Red Dot Sight & Grenade Launcher from CoD MW :-(
  • mafyooz - December 12, 2012 12:07 a.m.

The Head Hunter from Bulletstorm. What's not to love about a sniper rifle where you can take control of the actual bullet and steer it into the enemy's bollocks? :)

Aside from the shotgun and double shotgun from Doom. ANY gun from Turok 2......seriously those guns were fucking crazy!
