Yakuza 4 coming to the West

Shares

Yakuza 4 will be hitting the West in the spring, exclusively on PlayStation 3. It fits in with the usual 'we get it but a year late' system, but it's still a nice surprise, given its translation was by no means a certainty.

The announcement comes with four new screenshots, which you can see below. We think you'll agree it looks great. The game will be at E3, so we'll undoubtedly bring you more on it next week.

Above: Just look at all those people and the detail in the background. Yum

Above: Expect plenty of street brawls - and weapons to pick up too

Above: There are plenty of playable characters this time round

Above: Stop looking for Lan Di's helicopter. Come on, let it go...

Cool. Now let's see how much Sega tries to screw it over with no advertising and content cuts.

Sweet, can't wait. Hopefully 4 goes back to the over the top craziness of 2. I want to punch a shark in the fac ethis time.

Great news! I just beat 3 a few days ago!

Great series and could be massive in the west if Sega believed it too. They never push the games and never did from the word go and for us fans of the franchise it's mystifying just how Sega manage to keep it in this weird limbo-ghetto of uncertain western release dates and zero marketing west of Tokyo! Sure, they know it's going to sell back home but don't they want to make money on it elsewhere? Surely they could get the games out a lot more quickly using the same production run of discs from Japan and making language packs/translation/subtitles for each other region available on PSN rather than delay for a year to do it all on disc, no? Sprinkle on a few ads and Bob's your Yakuza. Whatever, at least we avoid the "will they, wont they?" Bollox that surrounded Y3 while we fools who follow the games played the demo forlornly for what felt like an eternity.

Cool, I really enjoyed #3, and didn't notice anything that had been cut. It was actually better just doing chores for the girls, instead of having to go through the stupid conversations.
