13 biggest things influencing games today

Games inspired:
Gears of War, Army of Two, God of War

Rarely do you play as an incompetent nerdlinger in any genre of game. If it’s not made by Nintendo (starring a portly plumber, boy adventurer or made of pink fluff), then you’re probably controlling a dude with a shitton of bicep muscle.

Above: “LET’S KILL SOME SHIT”

Think about this: had the developers of Gears of War created smaller armor for the characters, then we might be led to believe that a smaller, normal man might fit into the costume. But with a roided out Marcus Fenix and the Alpha Squad linemen in tow, we have a brigade of beef on hand that feel bulkier to handle than the PSP. (heyooooo)

Games inspired:
Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive, Onechanbara

Somewhere along the way, devs thought there was nothing better than amess of breasts. And if said mammary glands are spiced up with a little violence in the game, then everybody’s happy… except a few outspoken mothers. But hey, at least game companies know who they’re trying to please - their core audience. We now refer you to ourVideogame franchises founded on boobsfeaturefor the best in breast.

Games inspired:
The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin

Miyamoto might be the only game designer in recent memory who has outright said he was inspired by his time exploring his surroundings. In creating Legend of Zelda, he recalled his time exploring the countryside near Kyoto, Japan. “When I was a child, I went hiking and found a lake. It was quite a surprise for me to stumble upon it.” Obviously, the hidden treasure chests and heart pieces were inspired by these surprises.

And much has already been written about how gardening influenced Pikmin or how bug collecting influenced the original Pokemon. But how many other games have been inspired by time spent playing in the backyard? We doubt all devs spent their youth coding or glued to their NES. A little bit of creativity does come from going outside once in a while.
