1C Roundup - nine new games previewed
Russian publisher sets sights on the West with a huge collection of new titles. New screens, trailers, and impressions inside
Death to Spies: You'll need to get your sneak on in this stealthy WWII-based shooter. The mission we got to play required us to infiltrate an enemy base and assassinate three targets. Similarities to the Metal Gear Solid series are abundant, with radar indicating your enemies' field of vision and lots of uniform swiping. Our experience with an early build of the game felt a little sluggish as we meandered from one section of the base to the next in search of a way to plug our targets without drawing the ire of the entire camp. Let's hope developers inject more action into this walk-a-thon before it ships.

The Tomorrow War: Based on the novels by Russian author, Alexander Zorich, The Tomorrow War chronicles the conflict between the United Earth Empire and the Konkordia. The game's engine is capable of modeling entire planetary systems, allowing you to take off from the surface of a planet and blast into space battles with no loading times. Further details regarding this 4X space-sim are sparse. But expect some role-playing elements to accompany the space-shooting action.

King's Bounty: The Legend: This classic IP has been resurrected from its MSDOS grave and given a modern day makeover. Yet despite its new graphics, King's Bounty: The Legend still looks a bit dated. Still, scoring treasure and leveling up is its own reward if it's done right. And from what we've seen so far, the game's turn-based combat seems groovy albeit a little similar to 1C's other turn-based title, Fantasy Wars.
