30 Reasons Leipzig Might Kill Off E3 This Year
After the non-event of E3, Leipzig GC '08 could be an epic bounty of gaming announcements
Warhound
Techland's second game, Warhound, is a mercenary career simulator which sees you jostling with rival pro-killers for jobs and tactically managing your finances before unleashing merry hell with a lot of very large guns. And best of all, there's a grappling hook and a Gears-style cover system, all in first-person.
Beyond Good And Evil 2
After a legendarily long tease in regards to its very existence, BG&E2 is the most fanboy-pleasing game Ubisoft currently has. There was no appearance at E3, but Ubisoft is based in France and France is next door to Germany.
Prince Of Persia: The Fallen King
Ubisoft's beautiful new POP game was on show at E3 but there was a definite lack of hands-on action. Leipzig, however, seems scheduled to give Ubi just about enough time to get a playable demo ready.
Prototype
Prototype's non-apperance at E3 can probably be explained by the fact that it's being published by Sierra, a subsidiary of Activision, and therefore mixed up in the Activision Blizzard merger. With a bit of luck things will be running more smoothly by Leipzig and it'll put in an appearance.
Wet
Things have been a little quiet on Sierra's other big action game for the same reason as Prototype. Fingers crossed, people. It was unveiled for the first time at last year's GC, so there's a precedent for this one making an appearance this year.

The Chronicles Of Riddick: Assault On Dark Athena
The wait for the remake of the original Xbox's Riddick game has been excruciating, but unfortunately Vivendi's publishing rights make it yet another part of the Activision Blizzard fallout. Hang in there folks. There are massive bounties to reap once the big deal gets cleaned up.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Nintendo's total lack of detail on the new DS GTA only served to throw the crushing irrelevency exhibited by most of the rest of its E3 conference into even starker relief. Ninty might not be at Leipzig this year, but Rockstar will be. Hopefully some of the Rockstar Leeds crew will have this in their suitcases. There's already been talk of having it ready for PAX, and that's only a week after GC.
Midnight Club LA
Midnight Club has always sold well in Europe, so Rockstar would be insane not to make sure the new game has a big presence at the German show. It was there last year, albeit behind closed doors, so a bigger showing this year has to be a good bet.
APB
A GTA-style action MMO from the makers of Crackdown, anyone? Thought so. We haven't seen much of Realtime Worlds' cops and robbers sim since this year's GDC, but the open beta test is apparently very close, so a Leipzig update is a must, surely?
