360 Wii Remote 'before year-end'...
...reckons a loose-tongued developer
Imitation, they say, is the sincerest form of flattery. So Nintendo, prepare to be flattered if latest reports on plans up Microsoft's sleeve prove accurate.
MTV Newsis claiming to have received information from a developer that Microsoft is currently working on a controller for Xbox 360 that features Wii Remote functionality "and more," and that such a device could well be out before the end of 2008.
Thisis said to be a sketch of Microsoft's Wii Remote clone.
"The project has been in active development at Microsoft since last August, the source said," the report continues.
"Rare, the Microsoft-owned studio behind Xbox 360's launch first-person shooter Perfect Dark Zero and the upcoming installment of the Banjo-Kazooie franchise, has been tasked with creating a unified interface and look for the controller. Rare has had trouble hitting its deadlines, according to the source."
The report adds that the source has said Rare is currently working on a version of Miis for Xbox 360 too.

Microsoft's made no secret of its desire to penetrate deep into the casual market, something that Nintendo has done with great success with both Wii and DS. Is a Wii Remote clone - if it does genuinely exist - the answer though...? If you can't beat them, join them, we guess...
