3D Dot Game Heroes trailer is magical, crammed with Zelda references

It's no small secret that Atlus's upcoming adventure-'em-up is a direct homage to The Legend of Zelda. Everything from the character designs to the map layout to the music to the in-game items to the... well, everything, is soaking with references to Nintendo's long-running franchise. So much, in fact, that we can scarcely believe Nintendo hasn't launched a full battalion of lawyers straight at Atlus HQ.

Now they're just flaunting the similarities. Boomerangs? Bombs? A merchant named Crazy Error? "It's a Secret to Everybody?" Sweet god, how can this even exist? And how can we be so amazingly excited to play it? Take note, Nintendo - if you don't make new old games, someone else will!

3D Dot Game Heroes releases on May 11, the same day as Alan Wake, Prince of Persia, Lost Planet 2 and Skate 3. Good luck, guys!
