3DS system update adding 3D recording, stop motion animation
Nintendo's press conference heralds new features for its 3D handheld
Nintendo 3DS owners will soon have the power to record their life in three dimensions, thanks to a firmware update for the handheld system. Today, Nintendo dished out the details on an incoming software upgrade for the 3DS that will allow users to utilize the system's camera to tape up 10 minutes of 3D video, as well as create their very own stop-motion animations.
Further adding to its 3D offerings, Nintendo said it will begin selling 3D music videos beginning with a rendition of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' as performed by the characters from Shrek, available now in the Nintendo eShop for $1.99. Future videos, like Foster the People's “Don't Stop”, will also be arriving shortly.
Full details on the update, which is expected to arrive this November, can be viewed on the company's Nintendo Direct video press release.
