40 Funniest 2013 Movie Scenes
The year's biggest chuckles, guffaws and thigh slappers
The Wolverine - Logan's bathtime
The Funny Scene: A few years in the wilderness getting in touch with his inner mutant and Wolvie’s impeccable personal appearance has merged with that of a mountain gorilla.
Dragged to Japan to help out fellow mutant Yukio, she first insists he take a bath. Well, what she says is “they will disinfect you,” revealing two old chucks desperate to give Hugh Jackman a damn good scrubbing, despite his resistant “Like hell they will!”
Most Quotable Line: “I feel violated.”
Man Of Steel - He's kinda hot
The Funny Scene: Following up his world-saving heroics, Superman (Henry Cavill) destroys a government satellite programmed to track his movements. Getting into it with a military bigwig, in a word or two, Supes tells him where to stick it.
As he takes off into the sky, his muscled physique that’d make anyone in their right mind a tad weak at the knees, clearly makes an impression on one army gal. Her rosy-cheeked smile toward her commanding officer is accompanied by the film’s most droll line of dialogue.
Most Quotable Line: “Sorry sir, I just think he’s kind of hot.”
Fast & Furious 6 - Spare change
The Funny Scene: While CIA Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) briefs the crew on their incredibly dangerous top secret mission, Roman (Tyrese Gibson) squeezes his buddies over change for the vending machine.

The Rock’s steady resolve holds until he reaches tipping point; whipping out his piece (no, not that) he fires at the drinks machine, rendering that coin deposit definitely out of order.
Most Quotable Line: “It’s on the house.”
Wreck-It Ralph - Ralph meets Vanellope
The Funny Scene: Video game villain Wreck-it Ralph (John C. Reilly) ventures into another game, Sugar Rush , to find his lost medal.
Spotting his bling high up a tree, he races to grab it only to be challenged Cheshire cat-style by Vanellope (Sarah Silverman). The pint-sized, helium-voiced tyke goads Ralph, as she hops from one branch to the next armed with another raspy quip to knock him off his haunches.
Most Quotable Line: “Your breath is so bad it made my ears numb.”
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - Unzip me?
The Funny Scene: Prior to the 75th Hunger Games, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) are in an elevator heading back to their rooms when the absolutely-not-body-conscious-in-the-least Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) steps in.
In a matter of seconds, she’s stripping down to her birthday suit while non-stop jabbering. Peeta struggles to not gawp at her naked buns, Katniss grits her teeth in disgust and Haymitch boldly shucks his way through her striptease before she turns on her heels, winks and alights.
Most Quotable Line: “That was fun. Let’s do it again sometime.”
Sharknado - Chainsaw finale
The Funny Scene: When science and reason are thrown out the window, a series of shark-infested tornadoes tear their way through Los Angeles.
As one particularly gargantuan shark flies through the sky gunning for his daughter, Fin (Ian Ziering) heroically jumps into the air in slo-mo, and dives between its jaws chainsawing his way through its stomach.
And what should he find in its belly? One of his comrades, still alive, who was earlier gobbled from a helicopter by one of the beasties.
Of course he does.
Most Quotable Line: “I really hate sharks.”
The Bling Ring - Does my bum look big in this?
The Funny Scene: Emma Watson’s depiction of an entitled LA brat vacillates from self-righteous to utter dimwit. Which is funny in itself.
In a rare moment of downtime when “the bling ring” aren’t out thieving from celebs, Nicki (Watson) and Sam (Taissa Farmiga) take time for a bedroom hangout.
Their conversation, rather comically, is never able to elevate beyond a series of shallow platitudes.
Most Quotable Line: “Your butt looks awesome.”
Despicable Me 2 - Minion in love
The Funny Scene: When Minion Dave meets Gru’s new undercover partner Lucy at their secret bakery headquarters he is unable to hide his infatuation.
Staring slack-jawed and googly-eyed he escapes into his daydream, where his wish-fulfilment presents as a spoof of typical movie falling-in-love montages.
They skip hand-in-hand along the beach, he chugs a bottle of champers during their romantic picnic before they shoot their own fireworks over a bridge.
Most Quotable Line: “Earth to Dave!”
The To-Do List - Wind beneath my wings
The Funny Scene: A major friendship tiff between good-girl Brandy Klark (Aubrey Plaza) and her best friends Wendy (Sarah Steele) and Fiona (Alia Shawkat) is rectified by a good old fashioned sing song.
Brandy bursts in on the girls midway through Beaches, her face bearing the comical earnestness of teenage suffering and serenades them with a solo of Bette Midler’s Wind Beneath My Wings .
Fiona angrily huffs “Do you think you can just come in here and...“ before Wendy, won over by the magic of Midler, tosses in the anger towel and belts out “Did you ever know that you’re my hero?” Timing, all about the timing.
Most Quotable Line: “You are the wind beneath my wiiiings!”
The Last Stand - Meat feast
The Funny Scene: Sommertown’s deputies cut loose at local whacko Lewis Dinkum’s firearm museum, shooting giant slabs of meat out back. Most of the giggles stem from Deputy Bailey’s poor aim which snaps his pistol back hard, turning his face into a crimson sprinkler as he hops from foot to foot firing aimlessly in pain.
The real chuckle, however, is a sweet piece of foley when Deputy Figuerola (Luis Guzman) flicks a stray morsel of meat from the brim of his stetson.
Most Quotable Line: “That’ll put another asshole in the elephant.”
