50 Greatest Movie Posters Of 2011
One sheets to weep over
The Mechanic
The Poster: A simple black, white and orange one-sheet that tells us everything we need to know about the movie – it stars Jason Statham, and there will be guns.
Coolest Detail: The gun is made up of a load of other guns. And guns are cool.
Cowboys & Aliens
The Poster: The film was a slight pulpy disappointment, but there’s no denying this is a killer image, playing with Western iconography and adding a little splash of sci-fi.
Coolest Detail: Daniel Craig, who makes for a mean-ass cowboy.
Contagion
The Poster: An official-papers-aping one sheet that cleverly takes its title from all the locations around the world that have apparently been infected.
Coolest Detail: That cast list. Whew.
The Devils Double
The Poster: Bling central! Dominic Cooper’s painted gold (we assume Goldfinger wasn’t involved) for a ridiculously glossy one-sheet.
Coolest Detail: Gold guns!
Green With Envy
The Poster: A sunny one-sheet for Jason Segel and Amy Adams’ brand new romantic comedy.
Coolest Detail: Except, UH, it’s not for Jason Segel and Amy Adams’ brand new romantic comedy. It’s for The Muppets . Hurray!
Thor
The Poster: Dramatic reds complement the metallic blacks and greys as Chris Hemsworth scowls over his shoulder as the Thunder God.
Coolest Detail: Mjolnir, Thor’s trusty hammer. We could’ve used it this weekend putting up Ikea bookcases.
Dont Be Afraid Of The Dark
The Poster: A slimline masterpiece that plays with light and dark as creepy, four-fingered shadow-hands reach up for an unsuspecting victim.
Coolest Detail: The dimensions of the poster are pleasingly old-school. This looks like a ‘70s VHS cover.

Final Destination 5
The Poster: A super-visual reminder of one of the film’s best death scenes. Should really come with its own 3D glasses.
Coolest Detail: It’s so graphic it’s been banned from ever being used to advertise the film again after complaints about its content. Bad-ass.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2
The Poster: As glare-y as they come, as Harry Potter and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named prepare to clash for the very last time.
Coolest Detail: It gives a real sense of finality as Harry and Voldemort come face to nose-less face.
The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn
The Poster: A shadowy, moody-looking Tintin literally paces the globe with adorable mutt Snowy.
Coolest Detail: The sand-turns-into-the-ocean segment on the right, which directly references a scene from the movie.
