Activision: Vegas, Army of Two "failing to inspire"
Publisher pleased CoD4's leading the way
Call of Duty 4 is "leading the way" in the first-person shooter genre, with recent competition from EA and Ubisoft "failing to inspire," according to publisher Activision.
Speaking in trade mag MCV, marketing director David Tyler said, "We're pleased to have Call of Duty 4 leading the way in the FPS genre, with recent launches such as Army of Two and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 failing to inspire."
The Infinity Ward shooter has sold 1.3 million copies to date in the UK, and the recently released Variety Map Pack is currently doing good business on Xbox Live (with PSN inbound).
"Call of Duty 4 has been a phenomenal success for us and reflects Activision's commitment to creating truly ground-breaking games," continued Tyler, putting on his PR hat.
"One of the things we've seen is that people outside of what you'd consider 'normal' gamers, are actually getting into this a lot, including quite a number of celebrities."
