Adam Sandler to wed Kevin James
The comic actors are negotiating to star in fake-couple laugh-grabber I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry...
Adam Sandler and Hitch co-star Kevin James are considering starring in I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry, a comedy about two firemen who pretend to be a married gay couple in order to receive tax benefits. Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin looks set to apply all he learned about nuptials from that film as he’s attached to helm.
But talk about wedding jitters. This is a pitch that has been wandering the halls of Hollywood for years trying to find the perfect partners to make it happen. The likes of Gary Ross, Jon Favreau and the writing team Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel have tried to wrangle the script. And casting? A range of possible partnerships, including Will Smith and Nic Cage, Smith and James Gandolfini and Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson have flirted with the idea of starring in it.
And now the film might actually see the light of day. Alexander Payne and James Taylor – yes, the writers of Sideways may have actually penned an Adam Sandler film – are polishing up the script. But we’ve waited this long… What are a few more months?
