Vincent Cassel sloughs off his hardman persona as a conflicted writer whose hidden infidelity with Ângela obsesses his teen daughter Filipa in this delicate coming-of-age tale.
The real standout here is newbie Laura Neiva who plays Filipa with a convincing mix of minxy manipulation and blundering vulnerability.
Set in an ’80s Brazilian beach resort, Heitor Dhalia’s sensitive mood piece reeks of awkward adolescent summers.
A shame though, that it drifts into predictability – bikini babes and a brooding Cassel make nice eye-candy, but an original ending would have been nicer.
