Alexander Skarsgrd approaching The East
In talks to star with Brit Marling
Eco-terrorism drama The East looks to be collecting some of the hottest young stars in Hollywood for its leading roles. With Brit Marling already in the bag, Heat Vision reports that Alexander Skarsgård is in talks to take the male lead.
The film follows the story of a female FBI agent who goes undercover to infiltrate a group of militant eco-warriors known as The East. Skarsgård is being lined up to play the group’s leader, who has a number of unethical corporations on his hit list.
Marling will play the aforementioned fed, and the young actress has also co-written the script, just as she did on Sundance hit Sound Of My Voice . That film’s director Zat Batmanglij is also set to fill the director’s chair this time around.
The film will likely be released by Fox Searchlight (which was previously home to Sound Of My Voice ) with shooting set to begin in Nashville in October.
Skarsgård meanwhile has a lot of varied work to occupy his plate at present. He can soon be seen in Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia and will appear alongside Julianne Moore and Steve Coogan in comedy drama What Maisie Knew . With another pair of starring roles in upcoming blockbusters Battleship and Straw Dogs , we’ll be seeing rather more of him in the coming months.
