Alfonso Cuaron Teams With JJ Abrams For TV Pilot
NBC gives a pilot order to a show about a girl with growing powers
Children Of Men and Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuaron is teaming up with JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot production company for a new TV series.
According to Deadline , NBC has given a pilot commitment to the as-yet-unnamed show which is about a superpowered girl whose abilities are set to reach their peak in seven years' time, and the man who’s sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down.
It’s Cuaron’s first US TV venture. He’s set to direct the pilot, which he will co-write with Mark Friedman ( Home Of the Brave, The Forgotten ). Warner Bros TV and Bad Robot are producing, with Abrams, Cuarón, Friedman and Bryan Burk as executive producers and Kathy Lingg co-executive producing. Cuaron will presumably start work on the pilot after he's done and dusted with the Gerorge Clooney/Sandra Bullock sci-fi thriller Gravity , due out
Bad Robot also currently has a new robot-cop show written by Fringe showrunner JH Wyman in development at Fox, and three shows on the air at this season: the outgoing Fringe , the newcomer Revolution and the second season of Person Of Interest .
