Alicia Vikander signs on for Bourne 5
The fifth film in the Bourne series has added a new cast member to its growing ensemble, with Deadline reporting that Alicia Vikander has signed on to join the forthcoming sequel.
Vikander is expected to be the female lead in the new film, although specific character details have yet to be disclosed. She follows in the footsteps of Julia Stiles, who was confirmed to be returning to the franchise earlier in the week.
Vikander had initially been scheduled to star in Justin Kurzel's Assassin's Creed, but shooting commitments would have overlapped with Bourne, so Deadline reports that the star has now dropped out of the former project. Such is the cost of being an actress in such high demand…
Starring the returning Matt Damon in the title role, Bourne 5 will see its leading man reunited with director Paul Greengrass after the series took a left-turn for The Bourne Legacy. The new film will open in the US on 29 July 2016, with a UK date to be confirmed.
