Alien 5 confirmed to be prequel
In front of cameras at end of year
Good, good news! Tony Scott has cleared up last week's rumours that a remake of Alien was on the way. It's actually a prequel movie that will explain the origins of the space jockey spaceship.
Last week we reported that a chap called Carl Rinsch has been tapped to direct it , which Scott confirmed. Rinsch has previously shot commercials for Tony and Ridley Scott's advertising company.
Speaking to Collider , Tony Scott said: "Yes, Carl Rinsch is going to do the prequel to Alien. He’s one of our directors at our company.
"I’m excited cause Ridley created the original and Carl Rinsch is one of the family."
Scott also said that the movie would hopefully be in front of cameras by the end of the year.
Sounds like it's moved past the stage of being just a pet project Ridley's mulling over. If all goes well, we should have some more details very, very soon.
